Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Professor of Development Studies, University of Dhaka joined the leading global environmental agency IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Bangladesh as Country Representative on August 2009. Educated and trained in the Universities of Wales, Lampeter and Queen Elizabeth House, University of Oxford as Commonwealth fellow, Dr. Khan has substantial teaching, training, research and consulting experiences in Bangladesh, the UK, and Thailand.
Some of Dr. Khan's former positions include: Senior Programme Coordinator — CHTDF, UNDP-Bangladesh; Research Fellow, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand; and Forest and Natural Resource Management Specialist (RETA 5900), Asian Development Bank. He has consulted for such organizations as UNDP, UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, ADB, IRG, CARE, DANIDA, Save the Children, USAID, Swansea Bay Racial Equality Council (HM Government, UK), and Government of Bangladesh. Dr. Khan has contributed more than 150 articles and book chapters to national and international refereed journals and books.
